Do not teach your daughters to be ‘pretty.’

Do not entomb her in a pretty pink tower
and insist that only the degree of her physical appeal
may set her free.
Teach her to fight her way out,
to consume books and spit knowledge
to lesser boys who insist she is just beautiful
and nothing more.

Teach her to love her body
not to manipulate and put a price tag on herself
as a defined worth
she shall be immeasurable
she shall be more than this.

Do not let her break herself down
when the boy in kindergarden hits her
because he likes her.
What are you really teaching her?
Pain and love are not synonymous
neither are pretty and perfection.

Teach her to be kind
to be harsh
to be demure
to be wild
to be sensitive
to be thick-skinned

But good god,

Do not teach your daughters to be ‘pretty.’

Scorpio - The Paranoid Psychologist

Those born under the sign of Scorpio are famous for their ability to read people and instantly intuit the motives of their company. The middle of the season’s Fixed Energies tied with the psychic undercurrents of their Water element instil Scorpio with one of the zodiac’s generous resources of sixth sense. Above all, Scorpio’s innate reflex is to defend themselves from perceived rejection or trauma- and they will instinctively scrutinise anyone who cross their path. Gifted with an inhibited and pronounced perceptive ability, Scorpio are acute observers, often passively and subtly surveilling the actions of all their company.

Scorpio tend to be intensely private people; often over cautious and reticent to put trust into others. Hyper vigilant and naturally suspicious; there is an inborn fear of betrayal in Scorpio, and often, an innate distrust of society in general. Their perceptions can border on delusional, and they smell rats when no one is there. A metabolic paranoia can cause them to believe mostpeople have come to cause harm; and it is therefore imperative to Scorpio’s comfort they unravel all the mysteries others bring forth. An intense period of analyzation means many Scorpio will only enter serious relationships after a long period of self contemplation and personal investigation. Scorpio cannot help themselves but pull apart at the secrets and layers of others, and there is a rawness of perception present in these individuals that fosters this process. Many Scorpio’s will be found in legal and justice, criminal psychiatry, detective, forensics, investigative and sleuth industries - anywhere they can direct their incisive skills of examination. Scorpio are natural psychologists, and spend much of their time analyzing their own, and other’s behaviours - they are excellent at picking up subtle clues from others and noticing the body language and behaviours that speak louder than words.

Tradtionally, Scorpio are known as the zodiac’s detectives, and their powers of concentration mean they will obsessively fixate on digging deeper. At times, Scorpio can only see things from their own perspective, and this means the colours of others are grey washed by their own emotions. Although Scorpio is generally a great reader of people, they can deeply wound many a close friend by inaccurately gauging an action. These individuals will want to know all of your secrets, yet be highly guarded about sharing their own; Scorpio feel their concealments are their armour, and sharing such stories may one day be used against them. Until there is a complete attempt at a full psychological profile, possibly the chance to write a biography, it is unlikely a Scorpio will endorse attachment.
